The simple, one handed operation of the XURON Wickgun eliminates the ‘three hands required’ tool swapping process associated with conventional desoldering braid use. Operators work faster and more precisely with just a Wickgun and a Solder tool. Productivity is enhanced. In tests carried out by XURON, technicians worked 3 to 5 times faster than with conventional solder braid on a spool. The increased productivity easily and rapidly offsets the initial cost of the dispenser Gun.

The XURON Wickgun significantly reduces the cost of desoldering braid. Conventional spool braid can result in a waste factor of 30-50% due to heat conduction discomfort for the operator and bad cutting of solder saturated waste braid. The Xuron Wickgun eliminates this waste.

The XURON Wickgun fits comfortably in the hand and is suitable for both left and right handed operators. Braid is advanced from the front of the gun by rotating the thumbwheel. The desoldering operation is carried out with the operators hand insulated from heat, and with the braid remaining uncontaminated by skin contact or any other foreign matter. The braid is then retracted by the thumbwheel so that the minimum unsaturated and oxidized braid is visible. Squeezing the trigger cuts the used braid off cleanly,and the operation is repeated with the absolute minimum of wastage each time.

XURON Wickguns use easily replaceable/interchangeable cassettes factory loaded with 4.6 metres of high purity copper braid, coated with either type A Rosin or pure synthetic low residue no-clean type Flux. Cassettes are available in sizes 1,2,3 and 4 (widths 0.9mm, 1.4mm, 1.9mm and 2.5mm). Both the Wickgun and braid cassettes are manufactured from static dissipative materials for use in conjunction with an Electro-static discharge (ESD) control programme.
